Lifestyle Mockups From a Photo

Real product. A simple wall, floor, or table. Five minutes later it looks like a studio shoot. No Photoshop, Procreate, or Canva. ✨

Lifestyle mockup tutorial from a product photo

H iii. I am a mum. My camera roll is full of photos of my kids with backgrounds full of mess (not for the internet 😂), and somehow there is a little business mixed in there too. It is chaotic home pictures and clean product shots living side by side. Today I show how I took a quick photo of a baby sweatshirt on the wall and turned it into a clean lifestyle mockup I can use on my shop and socials. No fancy cameras or cleaning. Just good enough and done. 🪁

Good enough beats perfect. If the product is clear and the light is okay, you are ready.

The steps

  1. Take a quick photo of your product. Wall or plain background. Natural light if you can. Wipe the lens. 📸
  2. Upload the photo to Threadwise Studio → Mockup Generator → Fashion Shots → Lifestyle.
  3. Pick your options. They are optional. If you want more randomness, skip a few and let it surprise you.
  4. Choose amount and ratio. Square for feed, portrait for stories, wide for banners.
  5. Generate and save the one that makes you smile. ✅

Little things that help

  • Center the product. Do not crop sleeves or other details unless you mean it. Keep the full product in the photo.
  • Soft window light is your friend. Overhead kitchen light is not great, but it will most likely still work if it looks okay.
  • If results feel too similar, pick fewer options in the menu to give the tool more freedom, and generate more at once. Then you can choose from multiple variations.
  • Need space for text on your image? Choose a ratio that leaves breathing room (for example 16:9), then crop it. 📝

What is the most magical thing about this? 🦄 If your house is loud and someone just spilled yogurt, you can still do it. Take the photo. Five minutes later you will have something you feel proud to post. 💪💜

Quick questions

Do I need Photoshop?
No. The workflow is simple and beginner friendly.

What products does it work for?
Clothing, mugs, fabric swatches, candles, seamless patterns, small accessories, and more.

How clean does the photo need to be?
Clear product, simple background, soft light. That is enough.

Can I start with a seamless pattern instead of a photo?
Yes. Upload a pattern and the generator places it on a predefined garment for you. I will create a video for this too. Watch my YouTube channel. 📺

Next up is the flatlay version. I will share that walkthrough soon. 🪁
